Finished my Beastmen BSB! Beautiful model, and continuing on with my orange and black trend. I still have to do basing, but that will come in time.
Decided to paint my bestigors in chipped orange armour on a whim, and I’ve got to say, it was a damned good decision. Will post more pics when they’re done!
So, I finally got a game of Fantasy in against my girlfriend the other night, using my Beastmen and Bretonnians on my new gaming table! I’d say the table setup works really damned well; the larger size really makes for great, open-feeling game, and the scenery works really well with the board’s colour scheme.
Here’s hoping I can get in as many games as possible on the thing before too long.
I can’t believe it. My local comic book shop, which sells some general nerd stuff as well (mostly Magic the Gathering), had this little guy tucked away in a used case somewhere, for only 20 bucks. I decided to strip him and paint him as my own, and I can’t fucking wait.
Stay tuned!
Got my new apartment set up, and finally got around to getting my bookcase/display shelf thing worked out. Turns out I didn’t have enough space for proper warhammer shelving, so I figured they’d be right at home with my books.
So, I converted up a Beastmen hero. Originally, it was an old metal Pestigor champion, back in the good old days when Beastmen were more tied up with the 4 gods of chaos. I stuck a big Bestigor axe on it, tried out some new washing and drybrushing techniques, and voila! A Beastmen hero for only about 10 bucks. Sorry about the crappy quality picture, but I couldn’t be bothered to take it outside.
As busy as I’ve been over the last few days, I’ve still found time to paint up a few Beastmen, and man, is it good to finally get a start on my Gor unit. More to come soon, hopefully!
Right, sorry for the lack of updates recently, I’ve had a bit of a hectic fortnight with the family.
Anyways, I had a small 700 point game against my little brother, and you can more or less see how it played out here. I shot down his warhounds, my knights went through the ungor distractors on the far flank and were about to go into the forested Bestigors right as my peasants were gunning for the Gor herd.
It was getting really late so we just called it before combat got seriously underway, but I’m confident I could have won. He needs to learn how to be aggressive with the Beastmen: those Bestigors were sitting happily in that forest for 3 turns, waiting for me to line up a charge at them.
Hey, I painted some warhounds! I guess you can’t really see it very well, but their skin is a metallic bronze. I kind of want that theme to run throughout my Beastman army, and it does look pretty flashy.
In case you couldn’t tell, I needed another break from my knights. Now that that itch has been scratched, I’ll be getting back to my Bretonnians. I mean, my two big blocks of knights aren’t even close to done.
Alright, so I decided to convert a questing knight Champion, partly because I had the pieces, so why the fuck not, and also because I’m missing a proper Champion.
Anyways, a Bestigor’s arms added to a Knight body makes the really cool effect of a Bretonnian who doesn’t look like a bit of a prima donna. You can really get the impression that this guy has been questing for years, continuously fighting, killing, and getting stronger.
In a word, this guy doesn’t fuck around.
